"Una Sola Vita" (U.S.V) is a no-profit organization founded in
1998 in Italy by a team of professionals.
It has no political or religious beliefs, just the firm belief that "Developing
Countries" can get advantage from direct help through, for example,
building of new hospitals, direct medical assistance and scientifical/technoligical
skill transfer.
Of course this kind of help has to be offered honestly and consciously,
recognizing and understanding the various traditions and cultures, with
no aims but solidarity between different people.
USVs main purpose so far, is the medical assistance to Developing
Countries; most of the projects carried out have been mostly based on the
study, prevention and cure either of diseases and curable causes of blindness
such as cataract, glaucoma, onchocercosis etc.
(Dr. Alessandro Pezzola, USVs founder, is an Ophthalmologist with
18 years of experience in Third World countries)
U.S.V. proposes and carries out medium size projects such as small Surgical
Centres and Day Surgeries in rural areas that cooperate with the local medical
assistance
Most of the projects we have carried out so far, consist of small decentralized
day hospital surgical units (such as the ones still under way in Ghana,
Madagascar and Indonesia) or projects of prophylaxis and cure of various
endemic deseases (such as onchocercosis in Ghana) or, at the end, focalized
interventions (such as the Fishermans village in Loyangalani
Kenya)
